Yellowstone Forever is the official nonprofit partner of Yellowstone National Park. We partner with Yellowstone National Park to create opportunities for all people to experience, enhance, and preserve Yellowstone forever. Our combined operations include 11 educational Park Stores with gross sales of over $5.1 million; the Yellowstone Forever Institute, which offers more than 600 in-depth programs each year; a supporter program of over 73,000 Yellowstone enthusiasts raising funds to support critical park priority projects; and an online community of over 300,000 worldwide. Yellowstone Forever has provided over $106 million of cash support and over $64 million of in-kind support since 1933. Our mission of engagement and support through education and fundraising for the park will ensure Yellowstone remains for generations to come. 

The Director of Gateway Partnerships serves as a fundraiser and key representative for Yellowstone Forever (YF) amongst a variety of constituencies in Yellowstone’s Gateway Communities. This position is responsible for raising $250,000 annually. This position leverages those relationships and partnerships to increase awareness and support for the efforts of Yellowstone Forever and Yellowstone National Park in the region as well as fundraise for park priority projects. The Director of Gateway Partnerships is responsible for the management of outreach efforts, YF’s Gateway Business Membership program, and other partnership programs that raise funds for the park. This position cultivates increased support from gateway communities and state/local tourism communities. Success in this position requires exceptional community relationship management, effective communication, and close coordination amongst staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and execute work plans and budgets related to community engagement in alignment with the Yellowstone Forever’s strategic plan
  • Identify partnership opportunities throughout the region including grants, YF Institute programming, and business partnerships
  • Drive the organization-wide business membership program by gaining new annual business members via cash support and annually renewing current members to ensure its success
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Communications and the National Park Service to ensure strategic communications and community efforts are in alignment with park priorities
  • Identify and cultivate community relationships through ongoing communication including mailings, face-to-face contact, and outreach events
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Communications to develop messaging for communication efforts and development of associated media materials (print/digital)
  • Cultivate and steward mutually beneficial working relationships with community partners and public land agencies (local and state)
  • Serve as the partnership liaison with Yellowstone National Park Lodges(Xanterra) and Delaware North
  • Manage and oversee the Xanterra in-room plush program and Guest Donation program including training, collaboration with Marketing and Communications on appropriate marketing collateral, and monitoring progress throughout the season to ensure financial goals are met
  • Develop new partnerships and programs in local communities which advance the mission of Yellowstone Forever
  • Seek and implement new partnership opportunities within the park with Xanterra, Delaware North and other park partners that raise funds
  • Support Marketing and Communications with regional press trips, events, and content generation
  • Other tasks as assigned by Director of Corporate Relations or other leadership

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in nonprofit fundraising
  • Community relations experience
  • Experience with public speaking
  • Represent Yellowstone Forever and its mission accurately and positively
  • Foster a collaborative, team-oriented environment with YF employees, volunteers and partners
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Travel into Yellowstone and throughout the Greater Yellowstone area , as required
  • Strong commitment working collaboratively as a member of the team with an emphasis on cross-departmental integration
  • Dedication and passion for the preservation of Yellowstone National Park
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment
  • Proven ability to quickly learn and apply new systems, processes, and applications
  • Self-motivated with a sound approach to problem solving and timely task completion
  • Ability to sometimes work a flexible schedule, which may include nights and weekends when needed
  • Ability to represent YF in a courteous and professional manner
  • This position involves driving YF vehicles, therefore applicants must hold and maintain a valid US driver’s license, and maintain a favorable driving record for insurance purposes
  • A satisfactory criminal background check are conditions of employment

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working in a non-profit environment
  • Deep appreciation of Yellowstone National Park and an understanding of the challenges the Park faces
  • Proficient with CRM database

This is a full-time, year-round position based in our Bozeman, MT office. This is an exempt position, with a competitive salary based upon experience.
