Job Description

As the Copywriter & Digital Content Specialist you will be the voice of Murdoch’s across all customer facing content – from advertising to blog content you will bring the Murdoch’s navigator brand to life. You are a strategic creative professional that can take ideas from whiteboards, hallway conversations and formal briefs and translate them into brand statements, concepts and consistent messaging for Murdoch’s. Comfortable with writing across channels and tactics, you have the ability to write in multiple voices across multiple products and services for Murdoch’s. You are the steward of the Murdoch’s voice, responsible for enhancing the company brand and offering customers a compelling reason to buy by meeting customer needs with clear, consistent and compelling content. A remarkable storyteller, you are more than a writer; you’re a visual thinker, the guardian of tone, creator of cohesive language, and storyteller of powerful narratives. 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Lead the development of Murdoch’s content strategy in partnership with Marketing and Murdochs.com team members.
    • Develop our blog strategy, author, schedule and publish posts
    • Determine content development in support of key product categories and determine resource plan for creating content
    • Initiate, develop and manage a content library
  • Write copy for radio, print, digital, social posts and advertising, direct mail and email marketing, Murdochs.com content, retail signage and public relations tactics
  • Be responsible for establishing and maintaining brand copy standards, brand tone and style
  • Develop conceptual ideas that align with and/or influence the overall creative strategy and communicate them through creative writing
  • Advocate for the best possible creative solutions to support Murdochs.com, selling and transactional emails, digital ads and other digital deliverables
  • Identify internal and external resources to produce content (e.g. external specialists, team members with expertise, Buyers, supplier partners, yourself)
  • Research, interview (if needed) and author eBooks and other online content 

Skill Set Requirements:

  • 3+ years professional writing experience with experience in the digital and e-commerce space
  • Demonstrated ability to write in a wide range of voices and styles
  • Genuine interest in the Murdoch’s brand
  • Understands the potential for content as a brand differentiator
  • Experience in web, mobile, social and emerging platforms
  • Proven ability to develop/maintain strong relationships with internal teams
  • Impeccable copywriting skills and understanding of customer motivation
  • BA in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or other related field
  • Participated in defining a brand voice and tone and setting those parameters for others/team is strongly preferred
  • Be creative, curious, and self-motivated
  • Comfortable proposing A/B copy tests, interpreting results, and integrating data as they approach their work
  • A team player that is always looking to jump in, help, and solve any problem (or address any opportunity) that might arise
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite preferred
  • Experience with Wordpress preferred
  • SEO experience and/or knowledge preferred
