Job Description

As the eCommerce Merchandising Specialist, you will have two primary objectives:

  1. Gathering, organizing and managing product related data and assets to showcase Murdoch’s product assortment online 
  2. Actively managing the merchandising of content to drive engagement and conversion from customers. This role requires daily collaboration with all levels of stakeholders, Marketing, Purchasing, IT and external vendors and service providers to deliver compelling product content for a range of products and customers.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Gather, organize and manage consumer product data for Murdoch’s.
  • Author and/or enhance product features, benefits, and intended uses for a variety of products with to capture traffic and help customers make a purchase decision
  • Partner with Marketing, Purchasing, UX and other team members to develop engaging and effective experiences
  • Understand the Murdoch’s eCommerce platform merchandising capabilities, to become an expert in how to use the system to drive more effective site experiences
  • Collaborate with fellow Merchandisers to share best practices, QA each other’s work, establish and/or update standards, processes and documentation
  • Participate in trouble shooting site issues and propose and support implementation of enhancements
  • Monitor and understand and company sales to inform future planning and initiate responsive adjustments to site content
  • Learn and contribute to the Merchandising process and workflow
  • Other responsibilities and duties as needed

  • Copywriting or other writing experience
  • Ability to work across multiple deliverables simultaneously while meeting deadlines

  • Experience and comfort with technical systems, understands data integrity and implications of system settings, capabilities and limitations
  • Ability to work independently as well as with cross-functional teams to accomplish goals and objectives
  • Ability to communicate effectively - verbally and in-writing across all levels of the organization.
  • Driven to solve problems, thinks outside the box and gets satisfaction from seeing the tangible impact of decisions
  • Actions and attitude aligned with Murdoch’s Mission, Values and Principles
  • B.S. in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field of study
  • Prior eCommerce and online merchandising experience preferred
  • Expert use and application of Microsoft Excel for manipulating and managing large data sets
  • Advanced use of a PIM (Product Information Management) System is preferred.
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Windows, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Proficiency with web platforms, web content management systems, item data base, purchase order management, digital asset management, data warehouse management and marketing workflow systems
