Job Description

As the Copywriter you will be the voice of Murdoch’s across all customer facing content - from advertising to online product copy. Comfortable with writing across channels and tactics, you have the ability to write in multiple voices across multiple retail products and services for Murdoch’s. You are a strategic creative professional that can take ideas from whiteboards, hallway conversations and formal briefs and translate them into concise brand statements, clear concepts and consistent messaging for Murdoch’s. You are the steward of the Murdoch’s voice, responsible for enhancing the company brand and offering customers a reason to buy by meeting customer needs with consistent and compelling content.

Key Objectives:

  • Write and edit copy for radio, print, digital, social posts and advertising, direct mail and email marketing, Murdochs.com content, retail signage and public relations tactics
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high-volume workload often requiring short turnaround times and quickly pivoting between channels
  • Be responsible for establishing and maintaining brand copy standards, brand tone and style
  • Develop fresh ideas that align with and/or influence the overall creative strategy, connect with the desired audience, and drive action
  • Identify internal and external resources to produce content (e.g. external specialists, team members with expertise, Buyers, supplier partners, yourself)
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of communication and client-related industry trends
  • Research, interview (if needed) and author eBooks and other online content
  • Partner with Marketing and Murdochs.com team members to initiate, develop and manage a content library

Skill Set Requirements:

  • 3+ years professional writing experience with multi-channel retailer experience
  • Demonstrated ability to write in a wide range of voices and styles
  • Genuine interest in the Murdoch’s brand
  • Experience in web, mobile, social and emerging platforms
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills
  • A team player that is always looking to jump in, help, and solve any problem (or address any opportunity) that might arise
  • Impeccable copywriting and editing skills and understanding of customer motivation
  • BA in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing or other related field
  • Participated in defining a brand voice and tone and setting those parameters for others/team is strongly preferred
  • Be creative, curious, and self-motivated
  • Comfortable proposing A/B copy tests, interpreting results, and integrating data as they approach their work
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite preferred
  • Experience with Wordpress preferred
  • SEO experience and/or knowledge preferred
